Beauty marketers have been racing to be the first to market products with new alphabet-letter names – all in an effort to differentiate and jump on the bandwagon of the new trend that began with the recent popularity of BB creams. Brands including Clinique and Peter Thomas Roth now have CC creams. And Julep Beauty just announced it will launch the first-ever DD Cream and DD Concealer in late May, 2013. Why DD? “We’ve received an overwhelming number of requests to broaden our reach in beauty, and a response to the multitasker makeup trend seemed a great place to start. Our loyal Mavens have inspired us to create truly revolutionary products we believe in,” said Jane Park, CEO / founder, Julep. According to the brand, the new products provide more coverage than a BB cream, and contain more beneficial ingredients than a CC cream. Julep’s DD Cream offers protection, anti-aging, brightening and moisturizing benefits. It is an SPF 25 formula that contains: Matrixl Synthe 6, to plump the skin and help improve fine lines; Malvaceae Lipid Extract to even skin tone; and Hibiscus S. and Olive extracts to hydrate the skin. Julep’s DD Concealer provides illuminating and anti-aging benefits. It contains Synovea HR to even and brighten skin tone, and Granpowder Lumiere Powder to scatter light, conceal wrinkles and visually minimize pores.
